Physical activity is a crucial element to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, While working from home has been extremely convenient, there is a trend that those who work sedentary jobs do not exercise as much.  Below is a video of Dr. Jo demonstrating different exercises to do when at a desk.

Weight Management

People vary on different on how much they need to exercise to manage their weight. Some can eat a surplus of calories since they can burn them off with physical activity. While others need a high amount of physical activity to manage their caloric diet or adjust eating patterns.

Strengthening Bones and Muscles

Muscle-strengthening activities, like weight lifting, can increase or maintain muscle mass and strength. It is important that we protect our bones, muscles, and joints as we age so that we are able to remain physically active, avoid falling down, and continue with our daily activities.

Reduce Health Risks

Obtaining the correct amount of physical activity can reduce the chances of certain health risks. 

  • Cardiovascular Disease

  • Metabolic Syndrome

  • Type 2 Diabetes

  • Some Cancers

How Treadmill Desk Increase Energy

There is a review literature article that studied the random effects of metabolic analysis. After careful review three hundred and fifty-one participants were observed for their energy expenditure and metabolic rate among those who are in sedentary positions and those who use treadmill desks (Oye-Somefun et al. 2021). Most adults spend a good portion of their day (around ten to thirteen hours) being sedentary which is associated with morbidity and cardiovascular disease. After reviewing the articles, it had come to a conclusion that treadmill desks offer a practical and successful way to expand energy expenditure and metabolic rate while reducing sitting times (Oye-Somefun et al. 2021)
